Engage Your Audience...

A lot of people don’t really understand the meaning of engagement. They create fresh new content for their brands and make sure things are posting as usual but, they don’t actively engage with their audience. In order to actively engage with your audience, you need to start a form of communication on your pages. Get your audience involved with some of these helpful tactics.

The best way to get people talking is to ask them questions. When presented with a question, people are more likely to respond than when they see an informative caption. Asking questions that are super direct is less effective than asking a generic question that everyone feels inclined to answer. People don’t want to answer personal questions. For example, you would never want to post a photo and make your caption: “How old are you?”. By doing this, you’re less likely to get viewers to engage. With that said, asking a question like “What’s on your menu this weekend?” gives people the opportunity to express themselves in a less intrusive way. This is less direct and personal which will evoke better responses. Easy ways to ask a question is through the use of polls. Instagram and Facebook polls allow the audience to choose from two responses. This is an easy way to gather opinions without your audience having to put in too much effort.

After you are able to catch the attention of an audience, it is important to make sure that they are fully informed on what your brand means. In order to effectively do this, you want to be sure that you are in front of as many eyes as possible. Let people see the best aspects that your brand has to offer. If you are a brand focused on sustainability, tell them. If you only use organic materials to create your products, let your audience know! The best parts about your brand should be highlighted every time you post. By doing this, your followers are more likely to engage with your posts. Why? Because, if a consumer also has the same values and searches for brands that follow closely with their views, they will want to tell others about it. This promotes brand loyalty, boosts your following and increases engagement all at once.

Once you get your audience to respond and engage with your posts, you want to try to get them to post about your brand. How do you get them to want to post about you? Putting things in front of an audience is more likely to generate a positive response. By tagging products and including hashtags in your posts, you’re likely to catch the attention of the viewers. Adding simple features like these to a post are things that don’t take much effort and are easy ways for your audience to connect. Another way to get consumers to post about you is to ask them to leave a review. Whether they are happy with your product or not, people love to leave reviews telling others about their experience with a brand. In fact, many people look at your company reviews before purchasing your products. So, you want to make sure that you are making the most of your customers’ overall experience with your brand in order to invoke a positive response.

Another simple way to get consumers engaged? Offer them some sort of incentive. Whether it be 15% off of their next order when they leave a review or a chance to win a giftcard when they sign up for your newsletter, people love incentives. Another easy way to get people to share your brand? Offer a giveaway. You would be surprised at the number of people who will share posts and stories about your brand in hopes of winning a product. This gets your direct consumers to tag or share posts with your indirect consumers, giving you a bigger and more engaged following. If a giveaway isn’t something that you’re interested in, try offering a percentage off of your products. Promote this offer and run with it. Consumers are more likely to purchase a product from you if they are able to save themselves a few dollars in the process.
